About this initiative

This website and initiative to promote sustainable aquatic foods began with funding from Builders Initiative and a partnership between 501(c)3 nonprofits Food for Climate League and Food + Planet. We began by developing evidence-based health and wellness messaging and narratives to drive demand for sustainable and nutritious aquatic foods, namely oysters, clams, mussels, scallops, and sea vegetables.

These tested narratives serve a diverse ecosystem of organizations and stakeholders across the food system, including foodservice, nutrition, and retail sectors.

To date, our work has expanded far beyond those proven narratives. Our teams have produced an aquatic foods cookbook, developed curriculums, supported menu changes that incorporate more sustainable aquatic foods, and so much more.

This website is a repository of tools and resources for foodservice professionals, CPG and retail leaders, dietitians and health professionals, and others, developed to support the burgeoning ecosystem in taking concrete actions to increase the interest and availability of delicious, nutritious, and sustainable aquatic foods.

About us

Food for Climate League is a trailblazing, women-led 501(c)3 research collaborative working to make climate-smart eating the norm. We create toolkits, programs, and campaigns—founded in original behavioral science research—that connect sustainable food culture to people's diverse needs, values, and cultures. In doing so, we can make climate-smart eating accessible, enticing, and culturally relevant to the masses.
